Dumpster Rental Leads: Your Own Ads or a Broker?
Dumpster rental leads are worth measuring by the jobs you can fulfill profitably. Compare your own advertising and broker work using completed rentals, acquisition cost, and who owns the customer relationship.
Book a callCompare the actual transaction
With your own advertising, you pay to attract inquiries and handle the sales process. With broker work, the commercial arrangement may be a referral fee, a wholesale job rate, or another agreement. Establish who quotes the customer, collects payment, handles damage disputes, and pays disposal overages.
Use the same numbers for both channels
- Revenue you actually retain for the job.
- Delivery, pickup, labor, fuel, disposal, and payment costs.
- Advertising costs or broker/referral fees.
- Cancellations, failed deliveries, and uncollected balances.
- Whether you can earn the customer’s repeat business.
Do not call an inquiry a booked job. A lower lead price can still produce a higher cost per completed rental if the leads are shared, out of area, or poorly matched to your available inventory.
When the leads exceed your container count
Magnate has seen operators receive more demand than their fleet can fulfill. Before buying more traffic, check availability by size and date. You might focus advertising on underused inventory, narrow delivery geography, or arrange overflow with a reliable operator. Make fulfillment and responsibility clear to the customer.
Build a simple lead log
Record source, inquiry date, requested location, size, quote, booking status, reason lost, revenue, and direct job cost. Review it alongside your advertising report. “No availability” and “outside delivery area” require different fixes from “price too high” or “never answered.”
